James Gomric Obituary

James J. Gomric, age 81, of Belleville, IL, born on September 26, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center, Belleville, IL.

He attended St. Henry’s Preparatory Seminary from 1954 to 1959 and was a later graduate of St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. He received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law. After a lengthy legal career, he retired in 1996.

Jim loved Cardinal baseball, playing cards and his accordion, and attending all activities involving his grandchildren. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL and he served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Antoinette (nee Uga) Gomric and his brother, Gerald Gomric.

James is survived by his wife, Rose Marie “Boo Boo” (nee Bauer) Gomric; his children, James (Julia) Gomric, Steve (Amy) Gomric, Matt Gomric, Jennifer (Donnie) Minton, and Jill (Brent) Dalke; his 14 grandchildren, John Tyler, Rosie, Jimmy Gomric, Avery and Bo Gomric, Alex and Hank Gomric, Luke, Walter and Matthew Minton, Bauer, Isabelle, Gabrielle, and Victor Dalke; his sister, Joanne Schilling. He was a loving uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials are preferred to Blessed Sacrament School, Poor Clare Monastery or to Althoff Catholic High School.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. 

His cremated remains will be interred at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery
