Ina Marcella Cook, née Murray, 90, formally of Fairview Heights, IL, born on December 17, 1930, in Lyon County, KY, died Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Hillview Healthcare Center, Vienna, IL.
Marcella, as she was lovingly known to family and friends, was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL. She ended her working career while at the Fairview Heights Police Department as a transcriber. She was also employed by Viking Freight and Westinghouse in St. Louis, MO and U.S. Smelting, Belleville, IL.
She shared a special lifelong bond with the ladies of the Friendship Circle from the Aldersgate Methodist Church. Many favorite times were spent in her home state of Kentucky where family and friends would gather for reunions every 4th of July, but family around her dining table brought her the greatest joy.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Harry “Wayne” Cook, who died on April 24, 1989; her parents, James and Margaret, née McCoy, Murray; and her three elder brothers and five sisters, one in infancy.
Surviving are her two sons, Timothy (Carol) Cook of Fort Mill, SC and Andrew (Jennifer) Cook of New York, NY; granddaughter, Kathryn Cook of Asheville, NC; grandsons, Taylor (Jessica) Cook of Fort Mill, SC and Wayne Cook of New York, NY; her great-grandchildren, Reagan, Aubrey, and Landon Cook, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Kassly Mortuary Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral service will be held at on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Patton officiating.
Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
