Ida Mae Goedecke, nee Gross, age 95, born on October13, 1928, in Mascoutah, IL, passed away on December 5, 2023.
Ida retired in 1992 from School District 110 where she was the kitchen manager/cook at Illini School. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview Heights and taught seventh-grade Sunday School at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairview Heights. Ida was a member of SEIU Local 116 and the Retiree’s Club of Local 116, and a member of the Dandy Dancers Square Dance Club. She and her husband Walter also enjoyed ballroom dancing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Goedecke; her father, Edward C. Gross; her mother Susan Lulu Gross (nee Becherer); four brothers, Edwin, Arthur, Jake, and Oscar Gross; and two sisters, Margaret Kidd and Irene Lucas.
Ida is survived by her son, Dennis (Dee Ann) Goedecke of Chatham, IL; her daughter, Denise (Larry) Bayley of House Springs, MO; three grandchildren, Sara (Scott) Freeman, Laura Busk, and Nicholas (Rachel) Goedecke; eight great grandchildren, Devin, Cody, and Kelsey Busk, Bayley and Abigail Freeman, and Oliver, Owen, and Oaklan Goedecke; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkway Gardens Assisted Living in Fairview Heights and Manor Court of Maryville Skilled Nursing for the loving care they provided Ida.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., 9900 St. Clair Ave., Fairview Heights, IL, 62208.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway, Belleville, IL., with Pastor Jeff Hemmer of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating.
