Beloved in the Lord! Our Gracious God has called one of His children to live in one of the many rooms He has prepared.
Hazel Myrtle Krypciak (nee Haertling) was born on June 21, 1929, in St. Genevieve, Missouri to Oscar and Myrtle (nee Bodenschatz) Haertling.
A strong faith in Jesus carried Hazel through times of disappointments, despair and heartache; she was a great lady of perseverance, never one to give up. Christ, nevertheless, bestowed upon her numerous blessings as well.
One particular blessing occurred on April 23,1949, when she married the love of her life, Stanley John Krypciak, at the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they raised a daughter and a son.
Trinity was the same church where Hazel confessed her faith during the confirmation service in 1944. Isaiah 41:10, the verse given to her stated; “Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with My righteous hand.” These words guided the life she led.
Besides being a homemaker, Hazel spent many years in the outside work force, first at Brooks Paper Factory in downtown St. Louis, and then on the Illinois side at Kmart from where she retired.
The love of family and nature was a top priority in her life. She was always ready to listen and carefully advise her offspring. Her beautiful yard and flowers appreciated her green thumb.
During her lifetime, Hazel sincerely believed that it was much better to give of herself than to receive. The Lord has now joyfully given Hazel an eternal home.
Surviving Hazel are her daughter Kathleen Johnson of Moorhead, Minnesota; a son Michael (Cathy) Krypciak of Swansea, Illinois; grandchildren; Matthew (Tammy) Johnson of Jacksonville, Illinois; Michael (Dena) Johnson of Kirkwood, Missouri; Rebekah (Nick) Hoffman of McHenry, North Dakota; Shannon (Jason) Morrow of St. Peters, Missouri; Shawn Krypciak of Belleville, Illinois; great-grandchildren; Kody (Allie) Wood, Klay (Morgan) Wood, Aubree Johnson, Easton Hoffman, Brooke Hoffman, Maisie Morrow; brother Wayne (Janis) Haertling of DeSoto, Texas.
Those preceding her in death were her parents, Oscar and Myrtle Haertling, her husband Stanley Krypciak, sister Virgie Hacker, brothers Glennon, Oscar, and Robert Haertling, son-in-law Rev. Charles Johnson, granddaughter Rachel Johnson, and stillborn great-grandson Stanley Johnson.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and the entire staff at Memorial Hospital in Belleville for their compassion in making Hazel’s last couple of weeks as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.
