Glenn Clinton Tannehill, Sr., CMsgt, Retired USAF, age 79, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on April 1, 1941 in Foley, MO, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Dedicated to Family and Service, he devoted his life to the needs of others. He served in the United States Air Force for 30 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant from Scott Air Force Base, in Belleville, Illinois. He taught at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri for a brief time, then continued his service to the country at the United States Mint and United States Government Printing Office for 13 years before retiring to Fairview Heights, Illinois. He had many duty assignments, serving in Korea, England and America, as well as many TDY locations.
Glenn met the woman meant for his heart in England, Theresa Patricia Hurd, and they were married in 1977. His step-son, Anthony Hurd, was his first son, followed by his second son, Glenn Jr. Glenn Sr. loved and cherished both his sons and Theresa and was devoted to his family. His one dream in life was to experience the joy of grandchildren, and was blessed with Conor and Ethen, who called him ‘Grandpa Chief’. Glenn Sr. adored his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren, and was blessed to have his sister Thelma Faye Surls, brother Gerald Tannehill, and many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Glenn Sr. is survived by his son, Glenn Jr, his grandchildren, Conor and Ethen, his sister Faye, daughter-in-law Dorthe, and many loved family members who will carry-on their lives with cherished memories.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, Winfield, MO.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, Winfield, MO. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
