Glenn G. Edwards, Jr., age 83, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on March 18, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family.
Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He attended Oconomowoc, Wisconsin High School and graduated in 1959. He was a United States Navy Veteran, retiring as a Senior Chief after 24 years of service. Glenn visited every one of the 50 states and extensively traveled the world, visiting every continent except Antarctica. He loved to work Sudoku puzzles, was an avid reader of Civil War History, and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.
He was a long-time member of the Gateway Arch Bell Chapter of the American Bell Association, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1117, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #592. Glenn served as VFW Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service Associate Representative for District 14, as well as Chairman for Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy programs within the VFW. Glenn was also a volunteer for the Veterans Affairs of Jefferson Barracks serving as a Shuttle Driver, as well as visiting home bound Veterans as part of the compassionate care program for over a decade.
Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, “Our Littlest Angel” in infancy; his grandchildren, Gabby Edwards and Troy Edwards; his parents, Glenn and Mary Edwards Sr., his brother, Daniel Edwards; and his brother-in-law, Richard Rupp.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cecilia "Marge" Edwards; his sons, Michael (Shelly) Edwards of St. Louis, MO and Steven (Rhonda) Edwards of Smithboro, IL; his grandchildren, Jessica (Robert) Henson of Mitchell, IN, Shelby (Bo) Belcher of Smithboro, IL, Matthew (Tony Ellington) Edwards of Benld, IL, Christopher Edwards of St. Louis, MO, Hailie Edwards of Smithboro, IL, and Caden Edwards of St. Louis, MO; his 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gail Rupp of Hartford, WI, Dr. Keith (Ginny) Edwards of Chico Hills, CA, Tom (Debbie) Edwards of Redgranite, WI, and Kimberly (Steve) Jaye of Golconda, IL; his sister-in-law, Diane Edwards of Rochelle, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with a Service of Remembrance at 2:00 p.m. A private burial at sea will be held at a later date.
