Gladys Schumert

Gladys Schumert, age 95, of O’Fallon, IL, born on June 11, 1929 in Mound Valley, Kansas, died on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Colonnade Senior Living, O’Fallon, IL.

Gladys was a librarian, working at Belleville Area College for 25 years. She was a member of O’Fallon First United Methodist Church. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Gladys visited a few other stadiums on Cardinals’ travel tours. Traveling was her passion and in her later years she visited places around the world with her church groups. Gladys was a very loving wife and mom and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August N. “Art” Schumert; her parents, Arnold and Sylvia, nee Raymond, Talhelm; and her siblings, Frances Paul, Katie Bauers, and Eldon Talhelm. Gladys is survived by her sons, Mike A. Schumert, Randy D. Schumert, and Chris A. Schumert, all of O’Fallon, IL.

Private family graveside services will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
