George P. Cissell

George Phillip Cissell, age 79, of New Baden, IL, born on August 30, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Phil was a United States Marine Corp Veteran.  He was a former Union Representative at Midwest Rubber in Cahokia, IL.  He also enjoyed watching his favorite St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phoebe, nee Williams Cissell; his son-in-law, William Brock; his grandson, Hunter Wray and his siblings, Patricia Cissell, Barbara Cullen, Patrick Cissell and James Cissell.

Phil is survived by his wife, Joyce Cissell, nee Cullen; his former wife, Beverly Ann Cissell of Belleville, IL; his children, Mark (Christine) Cissell of Fairview Heights, IL, Kevin (Jen) Cissell of Belleville, IL, Donna (Robert) Semashko of Goose Creek, SC, Lisa Brock of O’Fallon, MO, and Kathy (Shawn) Bittle of New Baden, IL; his grandchildren, Drew Cissell, Lizzy Cissell, Mary Cissell, Bryce Cissell, Eden Macke, Alexis Maki, Savannah Maki, and Devin Bittle; his great-grandchildren, Amity Bittle and Aubree Capp; and his sisters, Rose Cullen of Belleville, IL, Rita (Virgil) Kemp of Caseyville, IL, Phyllis (Michael) Gould of Dupo, IL, and Monica (Eugene) Cates of Caseyville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Caseyville VFW Post #1117, 415 North Long Street, Caseyville, IL, on Sunday, November 14, 2021, starting at 2:00 p.m.
