Francis "Frank" A. Kuca, Sr

Francis A. “Frank” Kuca, Sr., age 94, of O’Fallon, IL, born November 22, 1927, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Frank was a Korean War Combat Veteran serving with the 45th Infantry Division as a Forward Observer with the rank of Staff Sgt.  He was an avid golfer and bowler. Frank retired from Cerro Copper as a Machinist. He loved to sing and dance the polka. Frank and Theresa traveled to many states for 30 years with the Korean War Veterans for Reunions and enjoyed traveling to Colorado to visit their son Jim and his family. He was a member of Polish American War Veterans, Cerro Retirees Club, Polish National Alliance, and St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice, nee Gawalek, Kuca; his brothers, Bruno and Johnnie Kuca; his sisters, Rose Williams, Josephine Kuca and MaryAnn Kuca; his brothers-in-law, Winston Williams, James Bohnak and Marion Bohnak; his sister-in-law, Margaret Bohnak; and his in laws, Ted and Stefanie Bohnak.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa, nee Bohnak, Kuca; his sons, Frankie (Kelly) Kuca, James (Susan) Kuca, and Steven Kuca; his grandchildren, Jessica, August and Alex Kuca and Allison (Chad) Bartholomew; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kuca and Laverne Bohnak; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was Grandpa Frank to Ava, Shea and Braden Guinn.

Memorials may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in the form of Masses.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL. The PAWV Honor Guard will be posted from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL, with Fr. Jim Deiters officiating.  Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
