Francis John Esmon Obituary

Francis “Babe” Esmon, 91, of O’Fallon, IL, born on January 23, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.


“Babe” was a proud veteran of the United States Army, upon discharge from the Army he came back to Illinois where he made his home. He was an avid golfer, playing 4-5 times a week where he had an impressive six holes in one. He also loved bowling and playing pinochle with his friends, where he was always winning it seemed. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.


Francis was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (O’Gara) Esmon; and brother William Esmon.


He is survived by his significant other of 40 years, Virginia Parker; children, Donnie (Kim Cooley) Cox, Erin (Dave) DeCarlo, Sean (Mary) Esmon, Mike Esmon, Lisa (Bob) Denton, and Linda Parker; grandchildren, Danielle (Brandon) Castle, Jeffery DuBois, Tyler Esmon, Delani DeCarlo, Ashley (Lonnie) Parker, Alex Denton, Amber Denton, and Justin Parker; great grandchildren, Josie and Ruby Castle, Alexia, Aubrey, and Mason Hall.


A Celebration of “Babes” life will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Copper Fire, 200 East Main Street, Belleville IL, 62220.
