Everett D. “Woody” Woods, age 87, of New Baden, IL, born on March 24, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at his residence after a long illness.
Woody grew up in East St. Louis, IL, and later moved to New Baden, IL in 1971. He was a former mechanic at Dashney Service in East St. Louis, IL, and then started truck driving for over 40 years, last with Consolidated Freightways in St. Louis, MO for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He loved to fish and was the proprietor of Woody’s Sports Bar. Woody was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa and will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite “Margie” Woods, nee Gudinas; his parents, Joseph and Ophilia, nee Simmons Woods; and his sister, LaVerne Gerard.
Woody is survived by his children, Kevin Woods, and Kathy (Klint) Erickson both of New Baden, IL; his grandchildren, Miranda Cayson, Emily Woods, Kolbie Erickson, and Erin Woods; and this brothers, Joseph “Buddy” Woods, Charles (JoAnn) Woods, and Kenneth (Ann) Woods.
Memorials are preferred to Family Hospice or to Cardinals Care.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
