Elmer L. Jones

Elmer L. Jones, 87, of Belleville, IL, passed away on December 31, 2025 in Highland, IL.

Elmer was born to Luther and Margaret (Durkin) Jones on March 31, 1938 in East St Louis, IL. He attended East Saint Louis Senior High School. Mr. Jones was a Captain of the East St Louis Fire Department.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Schroen) and their children: Thomas Jones of Belleville, IL, Linda (Robert) Grass of Coulterville, MO, Robert (Michelle) Jones of Smithton, IL, Sandra (Anthony) Nunez of Trenton, IL, and Susan (James) Schaefer of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren: Samantha (Phil) Stephan, Kayla Grass, Monique (David) Stratton, Jordyn (Nathan) Meinhardt, Jacob Schaefer, Hannah (Chandler) Benkendorf, Alonzo (Madeline Frohn) Nunez, Mary Schaefer, Lauryn Nunez, and Josephine Schaefer.

Elmer also has three great-grandsons: Landon Stephan, Milo Meinhardt, and Callan Benkendorf.

Special thanks to the caregivers who assisted Elmer during his time at Freeburg Care Center, St Elizabeth's, and St Joseph's Hospital in Highland.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers at St Jude's or Shriner's Hospital.
