Elbert W. Sims

Elbert Willis Sims, age 68, of Belleville, IL, born on December 8, 1953, in Woodruff, SC, died on May 27, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Elbert graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati, OH, and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and toured around the world.  He met Gloria when he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.  They joined hands in 1983. Elbert transferred to Scott Air Force Base in IL in 1986 and Gloria later joined him.  He enjoyed grilling, taking care of the yard, family, good friends, and music. 

Elbert was preceded  in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Ruth Sims, and his brother, Kenneth Lee Sims.

He is survived by the love of his life, Gloria Foreman; his children, DeVon L. Sims, Bryan L. Sims, and Adrian L. Sims; stepson, Eric L. Foreman; two sons in Ohio, Christopher Sims and Markus Sims; his brother, James Sims; his sister, Vivian (Eric) Barkley; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his life long friends and acquaintances.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, Rev. Jim Kerr officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
