Edward A. Kupinski

Edward A. Kupinski, age 85, of Collinsville, IL, born on October 18, 1937, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his residence.

Edward was a retired crane operator with National Steel in Granite City, IL.  He was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, CSA Lodge Estlian #404 and Knights of Columbus, Collinsville Council #1712.  Edward was a former altar boy when young at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and loved playing the accordion.  His favorite songs were “Under the Double Eagle,” and “The Blue Skirt Waltz.” Edward was an avid bowler in several leagues, including many competitive men’s leagues. He also enjoyed trap shooting at the Edwardsville Gun Club and his 1951 Chevrolet Coupe was in many Veterans Day parades. He was a master at playing pinochle and loved playing cards.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Kupinski, nee Erlich; his grandsons, Jacob and Robert Kupinski; his parents, Anthony and Lillian, nee Weber Kupinski; and his sister, Ruth Ann Croft.

Edward is survived by his children, Michael Kupinski of Kissimmee, FL, and Donald (Linda) Kupinski, Sr., of Collinsville, IL; his grandchildren, Donald (Alyssa) Kupinski, Jr., Stacy (Jason) Lewis, and April (Dustin) Burdell; 7 great grandchildren; and his brother, James (Susan) Kupinski.

Memorials may be made to Tote Me Home Program through the Collinsville Food Pantry, American Kidney Foundation, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or Immaculate Conception Chapel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL, with Fr. John Beveridge officiating.  Interment will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville, IL.
