Dorothy “Linda” Sale nee Bova, age 79 of Collinsville, IL, born on November 12, 1943 passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side.
Linda was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play horseshoes in her younger days, and was an avid sports fan. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, and thoroughly loved watching tennis and college softball. She was also known for her green thumb, especially her beautiful rose bushes. You could always catch her watching John Wayne or her cowboy shows. Most of all, she was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Sale; her daughter, Lisa Bowen; her parents John & Dorothy nee Adams, Bova; her sisters, Sandra “June” Mitchell, Carol Tottleben, Patricia McCain, and Karen “Cookie” Day-Fonseca; and her two brothers, John “Butch” Bova, Jr. and Michael Bova.
Surviving are her children, Leonard “Goose” Hopper of Granite City, IL, Greg Hopper of Mascoutah, IL, April Savala of Collinsville, IL and Brandie (Adam) Davis of Belleville, IL; her stepchildren, Debbie (Randy) Samples, Caseyville IL, Doug Sale of Caseyville IL, and Danny Sale of Collinsville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and her sister, Donna Hodge of Shelbyville, IL. Linda is also survived by her special angels, Dallas Hopper and Misty Blanchard as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Donations are preferred to the American Heart Association.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
