Donald E. Delkus, age 92, of O’Fallon, IL, born on July 21, 1931, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his residence.
Don was a son, brother, friend, nephew, uncle, husband, grandpa, and great grandpa, but most of all he was an honest, devoted, hardworking role model, who helped others and an absolute hero to his family. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mary, nee Lobin Delkus; his siblings, John Raeder, Martha Haenlein, Mary Evans, Ruth Delkus; his nephew, Johnny Evans; and his brother-in-law and dear friend, Jack Evans.
Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Delkus, Nee Koehler; his children, Mary (Larry) Buchanan, Donna (Greg) Brutto, Debbie (Brad) Allsup, and Patty (Dan) England; grandchildren, Scott (Jessica) Buchanan, Kristina (Brenton) Kutz, Brittany (Jeremy) Wooten, Sean Buchanan, Shannon Buchanan, Josh England, Allison Brutto (Henry Mooney), Samantha (Tannar) Priem, Katie Buchanan, and Mary Marie Buchanan; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke and Gage Buchanan, Eli and Ezra Wooten; Aria and Adley Kutz; Iggy and Ozzy England; Hudson Priem; and soon to be arriving, Kaiden Mooney.
A special thank you to Vitas Hospice for assisting our family in fulfilling his request to remain at home; and to the O’Fallon EMS, and police officers for their compassion and respect whenever their services were called upon.
Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice.
