Dolores M. Eaton, age 90, of Caseyville, IL, born on November 7, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Dolores started her career as a payroll clerk with Central & Southern Bus Lines, now Vandalia Bus Lines and then later was an executive secretary with Mamie O’ Stookey School in Belleville, IL. Also, for Dolores’s efforts in fundraising for Mamie O’ Stookey School, a building was named in her honor, “Eaton Manor Comprehensive Behavioral”. Dolores was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary along with her husband Jim, the Commander of the Caseyville VFW Post 1117 at the time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Eaton; her parents, Thomas and Mary, nee Ashmann Boehm; and her sister, Gloria McReynolds.
Dolores is survived by her children, Laura Melhorn of Caseyville, IL, Cindy Crawford of Altamont, IL, Dirk Chance of Caseyville, IL, and Craig Chance of Caseyville, IL; 6 grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Melhorn, Ashley Moss, Logan (Danielle) Chance, Lucas (RaeAnn) Chance, Jessica (Tom) Tappan, and Jourdyn Chance; and 8 great-grandchildren, Blake, Troy, Emily, Jadyn, Aubrey, Lilly, Anna Rose and Aspyn.
Memorials can be made to the Caseyville VFW Post 1117, Caseyville, IL.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Rev. Doug Nicely officiating. Interment will be in Caseyville City Cemetery, Caseyville, IL.
