Diane Decker

Diane Halloran Decker, age 66, of Belleville, IL born on July 28, 1956, in East St. Louis, IL died on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

Diane graduated from St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis in 1974, where she made many life long friends. She was an avid softball player in her younger years and could hit a homerun almost as far as her older brother! Diane graduated from McKendree College of Lebanon, IL, with a degree in elementary education. She knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a teacher and impact the lives of children. She began her teaching career in Stockton, IL and eventually moved back to the metro-east area retiring from Corpus Christi Catholic School in Cahokia, IL. Diane made every student she came in contact with through her many years of teaching feel as though they were the most special child in the class.

In 1984, Diane met and married the love of her life, Chuck Decker. They were married 37 years until his untimely death in 2021. The last several years have taken a toll on Diane's health. Through it all, she kept her terrific sense of humor and positive attitude. Diane's primary focus through her whole life has been her family, especially her siblings. She spoke to each one of them every single day. She also cherished her many cousins, especially her first best friend, Loretta Lynch Davidson. Diane never met a stranger and instantly made friends. Her Irish eyes were always smiling!

Along with her husband, Chuck Decker, Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and JoAnn, nee McCarthy, Halloran; and two brothers, Eugene and Terry Halloran.

Surviving are her loving siblings, Daniel (LouAnn) Halloran, Colleen (Kevin) McDaniel, Beth Halloran (Troy Lillis), Amy Halloran (Larry Schwarze), and Emily (Brad) LaCroix; dear sisters-in-law, Christy Halloran and Karla Halloran; nieces and nephews, Geno, Alyssa, Nick, Jamie, Patrick, Kelly, Katie, Taylor, Brennan, Brayden and Beckett; many cousins and cherished friends.

The Halloran family would like to thank the staff of Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab for their constant care of Diane over the last year.

Visitation for Diane will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022,  from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022,  from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00a.m at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
