Chester John Ratka

Chester John Ratka Jr., age 79, of Dupo, IL, born on November 25, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, died on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Chester worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for many years. He loved going to the local casinos and going out to eat. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded  in death by his father, Chester J. Ratka Sr. and mother, Barbara (Vale) Ratka; Wife, Shirley (Miller) Ratka; Brother Robert Daniel Ratka and Sister Mary Ratka.

Chester is survived by his children, Carol Lynn (Leslie) Sutterfield, Chester John Ratka III (Michelle), and Robert Stanley (Carol) Ratka; His grandchildren, Brittany, Kevin, Amanda, Christina, Nicholas and Nathan; Great Grandchildren, Bentley, Riley, Hazel, and Avery; Brother, Edward (Virginia) Ratka, Sister Carol Cross; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL with Father Clyde Grogan officiating.

Per his wishes, Chester will be cremated after the service and his cremated remains will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National cemetery at a later date.
