Charles E. Fahrner, age 86, of Belleville, IL, born on December 28, 1935, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Memorial Hospital East, Shiloh, IL.
Charles was a US Army veteran and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He managed a motor repair shop for 49 years. Charles was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL. In his younger years, he was very active in his church, as a song leader, choir member, tithe counter, usher, Eucharistic minister, and Pre-Cana instructor. His biggest joy was visiting the parish homebound for 30 plus years. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending his 2 weeks’ summer vacation on an island up North.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rosella “Rose” Fahrner; his parents C. Everest, and Mary, nee, Collins, Fahrner; and his sister, Mary Anne Young.
He is survived by his son, Charles “Chuck” Fahrner, and his friend, Amy, of O’Fallon, IL.
Private family funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Fr. James Nall officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
