Carol J. Fonger

Carol J. Fonger, age 87, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on July 26, 1937, in Kalamazoo, MI, died on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at La Bella of Edwardsville, Edwardsville, IL.

Carol was an avid reader, great cook and loved watching game shows, working puzzle/ word books, but most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother. Carol loved her family dearly and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Her warmth and kindness made every gathering special and she will be missed by all that knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Bud” Fonger; her son, Timothy Fonger; her parents, William and Orion Zwiers; and her sister, Beverly Henry.

She is survived by her children,  Karlyle B. Fonger of Las Vegas, NV, Sharon C. Fonger of Fairview Heights, IL., and Karen S. Dew of Troy, IL; her grandchildren, Jamie (David) Calhoun of Waynesville, MO, Dawn (Bradley) Miller of Troy, IL, and Danielle (Todd) Bowman of Columbus, OH; her great grandchild, Taylor (Benjamin) Berberich of Honolulu, HI; and her son-in-law, Richard Dew.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL., with Pastor Ron Habelmehl officiating.
