Bruce A. DeLong

Bruce Austin DeLong, age 66, born on August 13, 1959, to the late Bill and Lucille (Metz) DeLong, passed away on September 21, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, surrounded by his family.

Bruce was the quintessential family man as he always put the needs of his wife and kids above his own.  He enjoyed spending time together (especially in his “happy place”, the beaches of Destin, FL), and set an outstanding example of what it means to be a good person.  Bruce had a tireless work ethic, an amazing sense of humor, and an inspiring humility.

He adored Kathy, his wife of 46 years, and took great pride in the life they built together. A life that included 3 sons, of whom he was extremely proud, 2 wonderful daughters-in-law that he thought of as his own, 5 beautiful grandchildren, and thousands of unforgettable memories. Although Bruce is no longer with us physically, his memory and legacy will live on through the family he cared so deeply about, and we take solace in the fact that he will be watching over us until we meet again in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Austin DeLong; his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Patrick J. and Elizabeth “Betty” Keeley.  

Bruce is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Keeley) DeLong; his sons, Jason (Brieanna) DeLong and Nicholas (Danielle) DeLong; his grandchildren, Madison, Charlotte, Miles, Archer, and Ryan; and many other loving family members and extended family members.  

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd.,  Fairview Heights, IL, with Father Jack McEvilly officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
