Bette Schmitt

Bette Schmitt, age 79, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on February 26, 1946 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Cedar Ridge Health Center,  Lebanon, IL.

A graduate of St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis, IL, Bette was a Theology and Latin teacher for over 38 years at Rosary High School in St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Margaret, nee Westrich, Schmitt. Bette is survived by her lifelong companion, Tim Richardson; her son, Ken (Annette) Richardson; her grandsons, Anthony Richardson and Parker Richardson; and her dear friend and caregiver, Dorothy Agee.

Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to ASCPA.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL, with Father Jim Deiters officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
