Barbara L. Friederich

Barbara L. Friederich, nee Lyvers, age 74, of Collinsville, IL, born on September 17, 1947, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bertha, nee Luther Lyvers.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Larry Friederich, whom she married in May of 1975; her children, Joey (Jennie) Friederich, Lauren Haukap, and Tyler (Katherine) Friederich; her grandchildren, Mia, Levi, Avery, Ari and Hailey.  She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Lyvers and Kathy Melvin; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara graduated from Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville, IL, Belleville Area College, and McKendree University. 

Barbara is the definition of success.  Her life’s work was family.  She, along with Larry, accomplished a 46-year marriage (which is no easy task when one of you is liberal and the other is conservative). Together, they created a childhood for their three children that many kids could only dream of having. Barbara raised her children with the characteristics passed down from her parents – honesty, hard work, kindness, and love.  Because of her, this fruitful cycle continues in her grandchildren’s upbringing.  
Barbara spent many years volunteering at the kids’ schools at Blessed Sacrament and Althoff.  Her home was always open to her children’s friends, where they were met with openness, trust, and at times, brutal honesty.  All who entered her home left loving Barb. Barbara loved to read and loved the fall weather, her dogs, her friends, and most of all, her family

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
