Barbara C. “Kathy” Grimm, age 90, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on June 11, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Kathy was the owner and operator of Kathy’s Kut 'n’ Kurl until she retired at the age of 86. She loved to sew, crochet, and make quilts for family members, for all weddings and births. Kathy also loved playing cards with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, momo and great-momo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. “Jack” Grimm, whom she married on April 18, 1953 and his date of death on December 4, 1989; her parents, Thomas Homer and Mary Vetrice Hayden; her sisters, Mary Ruth Williams and Louise Drago; and her brothers, Joe Hayden and Harold Hayden.
She is survived by her children, Denise (Joe) Aiello of Lakeland, FL, Ron J. (Melanie) Grimm of Swansea, IL, and Jackie (Tim) Johnston of Swansea, IL; grandchildren, Brad (Catina) Aiello, John (Mariya Karimova) Aiello, Melissa (David) Wampler, Elizabeth (Kevin) Lenz, Ellen (David) Sweder, Emily Grimm, Taylor Johnston, and Hayley (Sam Edwards) Johnston; her great-grandchildren, Khylie Aiello, Cristian Aiello, Cameron Aiello, Ava Wampler, Colin Wampler, Parker Lenz, Wesley Lenz, Adalyn Lenz and Sydney Sweder; and her sister, Alene Libera Mergelkamp of St. Louis, MO. Kathy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Visitation and funeral service will be private with Fr. James Nall officiating.
Burial will follow in Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
