Anthony L. Abernathy, age 55, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on October 16, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
Born on July 21, 1970, Anthony was a gifted landscape designer and an avid gardener whose creativity blossomed in every aspect of his life. He had an artistic soul and a special talent for bringing beauty and joy to those around him, whether through his thoughtful designs, his love of nature, or the care and attention he poured into every detail for the people he loved most.
Anthony is survived by his husband, Timothy Lee Abernathy; his mother, Loyce Allen Whitworth; and his siblings, Robin (Claude) Miller, James (Debbie) Venice, Ronald (Joni) Venice, Jeff Venice, and Lesia (Marcus) Tiongson. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Venice, and his brother, Rodney Venice.
Anthony will be remembered for his warmth, creativity, and the joy he brought to every gathering and garden he touched.
A memorial and mass service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Edwardsville, Illinois.
