Andrew C. Glauber

February 25, 1961 ~ June 5, 2022 (age 61)

Andrew C. Glauber, age 61, of O’Fallon, IL, born on February 25, 1961, in Sierra Vista, AZ, died on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his residence.

Andrew grew up in Arizona, or as he liked to call it, God’s country, until his senior year when he moved to Belleville, IL. Becoming a father to his daughters anchored him to this area, but he always talked about someday moving back to Arizona. His 3 daughters were the greatest joy of his life. Even when he lived alone and all Glauber girls were grown, he kept a spare bedroom so they could always come home. His joy multiplied with the births of his 6 grandchildren. Family was everything and he recognized birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other special occasions with cards, meals, and checks, because he wasn’t much of a shopper. He had weekly zoom meetings and phone calls with his siblings, even though their locations spanned 4 states.

Besides his family, Andrew had many passions. He coached volleyball for his kids and other ages at St. Albert’s before becoming a licensed IHSA volleyball referee in September 2000. He has officiated at least 3 state volleyball tournaments, a source of great pride. His schedule from end of August through May was full weeknights for matches and some weekends for tournaments. He made many friends of his referee colleagues and acted as a mentor to newer referees. Andrew was also an avid bike rider, and recently took up pickleball. He enjoyed traveling, historical sites, music, Whataburger, aviation, watching sports, and golfing with his sons-in-law. His laughter warmed your insides and made you feel accomplished. He will be missed beyond measure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Helen, nee Clark, Glauber; his sister, Nicola Glauber; and his brother, Daniel Glauber.

Andrew is survived by his children, Melanie (Jamaal) Johnson, Nicole (Christopher) Mispagel, and Collette (Daniel) Frohlich; his grandchildren, Gabriel Johnson, Norah, Harrison, and Clark Mispagel, and Haley and Cody Frohlich; and his siblings, Barb Julius, Patrick O. Glauber, Peg (Kevin Kramer) Glauber, Theresa (Mark) Boggie, Christine (Dave) Ozaeta, Cathie (Rob) Ambrose, and Nicholas (Hiedi) Glauber.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
