Vernice Singleton, nee Fontenot, age 89, of Troy, IL born on July 23, 1928 in Mamou, LA, died on Monday, May 7, 2018.
Vernice was a cook at a Catholic parish in Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Singleton; her infant sons, Christopher and Jude Singleton; and her parents, Marcel and Aline Fontenot, nee Verette.
Vernice is survived by her children, Hubert Singleton of Fairview Heights, IL, Aline Gaff (Murph Knauff) of Henderson, NV, Anthony (Nadine) Singleton of Henderson, NV, Sandra Oswald of Redding, CA, William Singleton of South San Francisco, CA, Donald (Kimberly) Singleton of Bowling Green, KY, Gerri Spangler of George, IA, and Michael (Susie) Singleton, of Oceanside, CA; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 2031 Opelousas St. Lake Charles, Louisiana. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
