Jeanette (Johnson) Schmidt

Jeanette “Aunt Nettie” Schmidt “Nana”, age 78, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on September 10, 1939 in Sumiton, AL died on Friday, June 8, 2018 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. Schmidt; her daughter, Deborah Ritch; her grandson, Daniel Hodges; her parents, James L. Johnson and Lula Elizabeth Dugan; and her two brothers, Rance “Sonny” Johnson and Charles Johnson.

Surviving are her three children, Darlene Phillips Davis of Prattville, IL, Victor Phillips, Sr. of Dora, AL, and Katherine (Wesley) Johnson of Fairview Heights, IL; her three step-children, Karl Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, and Yvonne Hulsey of Louisana; her five grandchildren, Franky Walthers, Victor Phillips, Jr., Samantha Johnson, Noah Johnson, and Mattilyn Johnson; her two great-granddaughters, Adalene Walthers and Avalynn Walthers (on the way); her two sisters, Barbara Higgins of Macon, GA and Patricia Sharp of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews that she held dear to her heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral:  Services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL with Steve Rogier officiating.  Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
