Helen Mena-Valenzuela, age 95 of Troy, IL, formerly of Fairmont City, IL born on November 11, 1923 in Okawville, IL, died on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Helen was a grain clerk for Bunge North American. She enjoyed her retirement watching Cardinals baseball, sewing and crocheting, and reading novels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esequiel “Ben” Valenzuela; her parents, Frederick and Dora, nee Strate, Kuekelhan and her sister, Doris Kreher.
Helen is survived by her sons, Joseph (Eileen) Mena of Troy, IL, and Juan Mena of Fairmont City, IL; her grandchildren, Joseph Mena II, James Mena, and Brian Mena; her niece, Joann Boock; and step-daughters, Dora Nunez, and Norma Hernandez
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
