Ernest T. Reed

Ernest T. Reed, age 63, of Caseyville, IL, born on August 23, 1955 in St. Louis, MO, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his residence.

Ernest was a United States Army Reserves Veteran.  He was Tow Boat Captain for American Commercial Barge Lines. Ernest worked as a Captain for 43 years and was one of the youngest men at the time to become a captain.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Reed; and his step-daughter, Lisa White.

Ernest is survived by his mother, Mildred, nee Handlang, Reed; his wife, Phyllis Reed, nee Bell; his children, Jason Thomas Reed of O’Fallon, MO, Jennifer Lucille Allen of Tampa, FL and Leah Danielle Reed of Waterloo, IL; his step-children, Chandra (John) Carlson of St. Petersburg, FL and Doug (Jennifer) Brewer of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Dayton Lambert, Layla Lambert, Max Reed, Oscar Reed, Lucy Pidgeon and Thomas Reed; his step-grandchildren, Gage Carlson, Faith White, Brady Brewer and Nolan Brewer; and his aunt, Lois Doran of Meta, MO.  He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd. Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
