Edward M. Pitra

Edward M. Pitra, age 76 of Swansea, IL, born March 12, 1941 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on February 28, 2018 at Parkway Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.

Ed was a retired police officer from Fairview Heights, IL. He formerly worked at the Wabash Railroad and was a member of the Fairview Heights Elks.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Mary, nee Lonski, Pitra; a brother, Gene Pitra; and his brothers-in-law, Francis Patton, Barney Sutliff and Richard Sharkey.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia, nee Cryder, Pitra; his son, Robert Pitra of Fairview Heights, IL; his grandchildren, Shawna, Lane and Savannah; and his sisters, Mary Patton of Fairview Heights, IL, Bernadine Sutliff of White Hall AR and Patricia (Robbie) Robertson of Burnsville, NC.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL  

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL with Father Clyde Grogan officiating.  Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
