Doris (Piper) Sullivan Griffith

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Doris Sullivan Griffith, nee Piper, age 95, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on October 14, 1922 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Garden View Care Center, Valley Park, MO.

Doris was a loving homemaker, member of the Fairview Heights Women’s Club, St. Clair Women’s Club, longtime parishioner of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Rhythm Band at Our Lady of the Snows Apartments Community, and Doris completed her husband’s, Patrick D. Sullivan, St. Clair County Board term after he passed. Mrs. Griffith’s family is grateful to the caregivers and staff of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community, Garden View Care Center in Valley Park, MO, Vitas Hospice and to the Visiting Angels of both Belleville, IL and Kirkwood, MO.

Doris loved to travel and she and Charlie were often known to just hit the road with an unknown destination! She loved spending time with her friends but most of all she loved spending time with her family.  Her dedication and love for them was beyond bounds. We believe our precious "DOLI" will always be with us in spirit!

Doris was preceded in death by the late Patrick Daniel Sullivan and the late Charles Griffith; her son-in-law, Kenneth Sliment; and her sisters, Avonelle Nabb Hall and Bernadine Clark.

She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Sliment of St. Louis, MO, Gary J. (Mary Ann) Sullivan of Collinsville, IL, Patrick M. (Renee) Sullivan of Scottsdale, AZ, Timothy D. (Marilyn) Sullivan of Naperville, IL, and Carol Marie (Mark) Snyder of Swansea, IL; her grandchildren, Laura O’Leary, Anne Militante, Karen Crow, Christine Steed, Amy Honer, Patrick D. Sullivan, Colleen Skipper, Karin Sullivan, Kristi Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan, Christopher Sullivan, Sarah Becvar, Michael Snyder and Daniel Snyder; 22 great grandchildren; her cherished niece, Marilyn (Richard) Witte; her cherished nephew, Dale (Jackie) Nabb; and her dearest friend, Cyndee Sullivan (Karl) Jenkins.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Apartment Community Chapel with Fr. James Blazine officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
