Cynthia Jo Polka, nee Brosman, 60, of Caseyville, Ill., born February 2, 1958, in Granite City, Ill., died Friday, March 2, 2018 in Belleville, Ill.
An inspiration to many, Cindy embraced life despite the many obstacles she had to overcome. She was baptized and confirmed a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville, Ill. in 2009 and was active in the Bingo Boosters and wherever she could volunteer. Always toting a “frozen sodee”, Cindy had many talents including floral design and beading. She loved making jewelry and giving her designs to family and friends who sported them with pride. Cindy enjoyed planting and growing things and marvelled at nature. Word of beak got out about her love and generosity to hummingbirds which brought even more every year, and she loved feeding and watching them.
She was preceded in death by her dear in-laws, Bob and Jean Polka, and furry kids, Kirby, Jasper, and Elle.
Surviving are her husband, Brian W. Polka, 59, whom she married on April 21, 1984, and their son, Eric J. Polka, 28, both of Caseyville, Ill.; Bailey, her poodle; and parents, Joe and Mary nee Hampsten, Brosman of Maryville, Ill.
Missing her fondly are paternal aunts and uncles, Jackie and Bob Davinroy, Bill and Ann Polka, and Roxanne Rogers of Belleville, Ill., Lois and Dave Tarrant, of Collinsville, Ill., Janice Barber, of Wildwood, Mo., and Patty Rogers, of Livonia, La.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen Polka of Fairview Heights, Ill., Bobby and Lorena Polka of San Antonio, Texas, Ken and Debra Polka of Spring, Texas, and Kathy and Wally Stuart of Greenville, Texas; nieces and nephews, Renee, Geno and Gabriella, and Tony and Jeremy Polka, all of Texas, Debbie Prokopf and Todd Dahlstrom of Minn., Mary and Martin Wirjadi of Mo., one great niece, Stella Wirjadi; special friend, Lezah Spala and many cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church or Belleville Area Humane Society.
