Catherine L. (Burgess) Walker

Catherine L. Walker, nee Burgess, age 90, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Washington Park, IL, born on January 29, 1929 in Fancy Farm, KY died on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.

Catherine worked for Obear-Nester Glass for several years.  She was a self-taught seamstress and quilter; she enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children.  Mrs. Walker was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Walker; her son, Jackie W. Walker; her parents, Roy F. and Mary F., nee Hayden, Burgess; and her five siblings, Samuel C. Burgess, Roy F. Burgess, Jr., Sister Mary F. Burgess, R.S.M., Anna Charlene Brink, and Elizabeth Mick. 

Surviving are her three children, Regina “Gina” (Bill) Wappel of Shiloh, IL, Judy Maron of Belleville, IL, and Mark (Cyndi) Walker of Brooksville, FL; her three grandchildren, Chris (Ji) Wappel of New Orleans, LA, Lynn (Dana) Selden of Belleville, IL, and Kaylee (Kaila) Walker of Brooksville, FL; her four great-grandchildren, D’Von, Jordyn, and Aleigha Selden and Aria Walker; her sister-in-law, Charlott Burgess; and her brothers-in-law, Richard Mick and Robert (Carol) Walker. 

Donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  

Visitation:  Friends may visit on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 5:00-6:00 P.M. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL with Msgr. James Margason officiating.  Burial will occur on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln, IL.  Arrangements handled by Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
