Casimira G. (Ziaja) Armstrong

Casimira "Cassie" G. Armstrong, nee Ziaja, age 96, of Waterloo, IL, formerly of Fairview Heights, IL, born on December 7, 1921 in East St. Louis, IL died on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo, IL. 

Mrs. Armstrong was a graduate of East St. Louis High School and a former member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis F. “Frank” Armstrong; her parents, Casmir and Aniela, nee Dzierzak, Ziaja; her brother, Ben Ziaja; and her sister, Bernice (Nick) Broderick. 

Surviving are her two children, Kathleen (Woody) Martin of Waterloo, IL and Kenneth (Marcie) Armstrong of AZ; her two grandchildren, Dawn (Barry Surber) Reinacher and Chris Reinacher; her two step-grandchildren, Kristine (Gene) Lowe and Matthew (Terri) Martin; her two great-grandchildren, Connor and Dawson Reinacher; her six step-great-grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Cody, Colby, Michael, and Julie; and her sister-in-law, Betty Ziaja.  Dear aunt of Jane (Tim) Abbot and Lynn (Terry) Theis.

Mrs. Armstrong has donated her body to the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO.  There will be no visitation or services.  Arrangements handled by Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
