Brigitta Mena

Brigitta E. Mena, nee Wilke, age 83, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on May 9, 1934 in Koenigsberg, East Prussia, Germany, died on January 30, 2018 at the Arbors of Parkway Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

Brigitta worked for 12 years at Memorial Convalescent Center in Belleville, IL. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann Altar Sodility. Brigitta was also a quilter for the church. She loved to bowl, play bingo and play cards with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Mena, whom she met and married in June 1956 in Schwanheim, Germany and who died in May 1986; her grandson, Eric Mena; and her parents, Elsbeth, nee Schuman and Josef Wilke.

Brigitta is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Lynn Mank (Donald Weinland) of Collinsville, IL, Petra A. (Donald) Botkin of Fairview Heights, IL, and Frances E. Mena of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren she loved so very much, Stephen (Jamie) Mank, Christopher Botkin, Emily (Josh) Botkin-Jenkins, Elizabeth Dilts and Nicholas Dilts; her great grandchildren, Lillian, Camden, Mason and Kylie; her brother, Siegfried Wilke of Frankfurt, Germany; her special sisters and brothers in law, Maxine Dill, Helen (Lindell) Dane, Barbara Mena, Mickey Mena, and Adolphe Mena; all of her dear nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Darlene and Al.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff (our extended family) at the Arbors of Parkway Gardens for all of their love and care.

Memorials may be made to The Arbors music therapy program, Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.

A procession will leave Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, at 9:00 a.m. for A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL with Fr. Jim Nall officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
