Alfred B. Rique, age 72, of Fairmont City, IL, born on August 16, 1946 in East St. Louis, IL died on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Rique was a graduate of Assumption High School. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran. He retired as a carman from Conrail, later CSX Railroad, after 33 years. “Wedo” is the current ten time F.C. Bottle Cap Champion.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice, nee Valdez, Rique. He was the special nephew of the late Margaret, nee Valdez, Suarez and special cousin of the late Anthony “Tony” Suarez.
Surviving is his loving girlfriend, Phyllis Serwatka. He is the father of Dawn (Scott) Bueker of St. Jacob, IL, Tammy (Chris) Zitta of Fairmont City, IL, and Alfred (Tanya) Rique of Worden, IL. He is the father to Andrea (Shane) Barendregt and Alicia Sliva. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Chad Bueker, Maddie Bueker, C.J. Zitta, Amber Wilhold, and Libby Barendregt; his special cousins, Charles (Deborah) Suarez, Daniel (Marleen) Suarez, and David (Linda) Suarez; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services: Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL. Following will be a life celebration at the Fairmont City Community Center.
