Aurelia M. “Sis” Bain, nee Petrini of Fairview Heights, IL, went to be with her ancestors on March 27, 2024, 4 days after her 99th birthday.
“Sis” led a very full and long life. She was born in St. Louis, MO to an immigrant mother from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and an immigrant father from Italy (Tuscany region) who met and married in the St. Louis area. She enjoyed school, loved to roller skate, walk and bike ride all over Forest Park in St. Louis growing up, and always loved to travel and see new places. She enjoyed taking pictures of everything, swimming, dancing, making fudge and sweets, dressing up (especially high heels) and working outdoors. “Sis” was an extremely active woman who was mowing her large lawn with a push and riding mower well into her 90’s. She listened to Elvis and the oldies as well as Kid Rock! She also wore stilettos to her 90th birthday party! “Sis” was quite unique and she will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Susie and William Petrini), her 3 sisters (Ruth Malloy, Margaret Kolk, Evelyn Hobson), her infant son (Timothy Theron McLaurin), and her husband (Eugene E. “Gene” Bain). She is survived by 4 children and their families: Donna Carroll (nee McLaurin), Dennis (Janet) McLaurin, Douglas (Karla) Meyer, and Aurelia (Scott) Wiltshire (nee Bain). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
